A devotional : “Today Can Be the First Day of Your Life.”

Today Can Be the First Day of Your Life

Scripture

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” – 2 Corinthians 5:17

Reflection

We often hear the phrase, “Today can be the first day of your life.” While it may sound like a cliché, in Christ, it is profoundly true. Every sunrise carries with it the possibility of a fresh beginning, no matter what yesterday held.

The past may be filled with regrets, mistakes, or missed opportunities. Yet God does not bind us to yesterday. His mercies are new every morning, and His grace resets our journey. Through the Spirit, He wipes the slate clean and invites us to walk forward in faith.

Today can truly be the first day of your life—because you are not defined by who you were, but by who Christ is in you. You may not be able to undo yesterday, but you can surrender today into His hands and step into the freedom He offers.

Application

  • Ask God to help you release yesterday’s burdens and failures.
  • Choose one area where you will begin anew with Christ today—perhaps forgiving, serving, or trusting more deeply.
  • Remember, every day is a gift and an opportunity to live in the Spirit’s power.

Prayer

Lord, thank You for new beginnings. Help me not to live in yesterday’s shadows, but in today’s light. Make this day a fresh start in You, and let my steps reflect the new life You’ve given me. Amen.

.Here’s a devotional on “Decide Today Whom You Will Serve” based on Joshua’s bold declaration.

Decide Today Whom You Will Serve

Scripture

“But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve … But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.” – Joshua 24:15

Reflection

Life is full of choices, but none is greater than this: Whom will you serve? Joshua challenged Israel to stop wavering between false gods and the living God. He knew neutrality was not an option. Every heart serves something—wealth, self, pleasure, or the Lord.

We face the same decision daily. The culture may urge us to compromise, our flesh may crave its own way, but God calls us to wholehearted devotion. To serve Him is to live in freedom, for His yoke is easy and His burden is light.

Choosing the Lord isn’t just a one-time event; it’s a daily surrender. Each morning brings us to the crossroads: Will we serve ourselves, or will we serve Him? Like Joshua, may we declare with courage and conviction, “As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”

Application

  • Take time today to examine what or whom you are truly serving.
  • Renew your commitment to God in prayer.
  • Lead by example so your household, friends, or community see your devotion lived out.

Prayer

Lord, today I choose You. I lay down every idol and every distraction that pulls my heart away. Strengthen me to serve You faithfully, and may my life testify that You alone are worthy. Amen.

Here’s a devotional on “This Is the Day That the Lord Hath Made”:

This Is the Day That the Lord Hath Made

Scripture

“This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.” – Psalm 118:24 (KJV)

Reflection

Every sunrise is a divine reminder: today is not an accident, but a gift from God. The psalmist’s words are not just poetic—they are a call to faith and joy. This day is crafted by God’s hand, filled with opportunities to glorify Him, to love others, and to walk in His will.

It is easy to let worries about tomorrow or regrets from yesterday steal today’s blessing. But God meets us in the present moment. He gives daily bread, daily mercies, and daily strength. By rejoicing in today, we learn to trust Him with what lies ahead.

Rejoicing does not mean ignoring difficulties—it means acknowledging that God is still in control. Even in trials, today belongs to Him, and His presence makes it worth rejoicing over.

Application

  • Begin your day with gratitude, naming specific blessings God has given you.
  • When challenges arise, remind yourself: “This is the Lord’s day—I will rejoice.”
  • Look for one way today to share God’s joy with someone else.

Prayer

Father, thank You for this new day You have made. Help me to see it as a gift, not a burden. Teach me to rejoice in Your presence and to find gladness in knowing You are with me. May I live this day fully for Your glory. Amen.

Here’s a devotional on 2 Corinthians 6:2:

Now Is the Day of Salvation

Scripture

“For he says, ‘In the time of my favor I heard you, and in the day of salvation I helped you.’ I tell you, now is the time of God’s favor, now is the day of salvation.” – 2 Corinthians 6:2

Reflection

Paul’s words carry urgency and hope. Too often we postpone what matters most—faith, obedience, reconciliation—believing there will always be another day. But God says, “Now.”

Salvation is not something to put off until tomorrow. Grace is available today. God’s invitation is open now—to believe, to turn from sin, to receive His mercy, and to walk in His favor. Every moment delayed is a missed opportunity to experience His presence and peace.

This verse also reminds believers that today is the time to live out our salvation. It’s not only about a one-time decision but about a daily surrender. Each day offers a fresh opportunity to serve, to love, and to shine Christ’s light in a world desperate for hope.

Application

  • Reflect: Is there a step of faith God is calling you to take today?
  • Respond: Don’t postpone reconciliation—with God or with others.
  • Rejoice: Live today with confidence, knowing you stand in God’s favor.

Prayer

Lord, thank You that Your grace is available now. Forgive me for delaying obedience or holding back from You. Teach me to live each day as a gift of salvation, walking in Your favor and sharing Your hope with others. Amen.
